Chapter Twenty-Eight

Colton and Davion left to go to a pub to drink while Victoria walked upstairs to Sofia's room. Strangely she had disappeared after Davion called and hadn't made an appearance when Colton arrived. Strangely Davion seemed to be in a hurry to drive Colton away from the house.

After the horrible first encounter with Colton, Victoria started having second thoughts about her crush upon Colton. He was really an a*shole in the true sense of the term! She didn't want anything to do with him, ever.

Flashback - Twenty Minutes Back

When the doorbell rang, Victoria hurried to open the door since Greta was busy making dinner. The moment she opened the door, Colton burst into the house. His mouth hung open as he checked Victoria out from head to toe.

"Wow, are you available?" He leaned in and whispered. Victoria's eyes widened with shock. Was he asking her that at their first encounter? True, she knew him but he didn't know that.

"Excuse me?" She asked him, her face turning red with anger.

Colton grinned,"I'm Colton Glenn. May I know your name?" Asked Colton.

"Victoria Blakesley, " she told him.

Colton grinned at her. "Your name's as se*y as you are," he drawled. "Are you free tonight? I live nearby, " he offered. Victoria fisted her hands to control the urge to slap him. All her feelings for Colton vanished after meeting him. He was really despicable.

"No, I'm never free for the sort of thing you're asking for. A*shole!" Said Victoria, whirling around to leave. Colton caught her hand.

"What's the thing you think I'm asking for?" He asked with interest.

"You want a good f*ck, right?" Said Victoria, rolling her eyes. Colton looked taken aback by her boldness. He hadn't expected her to spell it out for him.

"I can see that I'm quite right in my assumptions, " said Victoria with a toss of her hair. Colton stared at her with interest. Victoria twisted her hand out of his grasp.

"You'll give in soon. They all do," shrugged Colton with a smirk and walked towards the kitchen to greet Greta  leaving a fuming Victoria behind. Victoria came to her senses and took deep breaths to control herself. She wanted to slap that smirk off his face but then controlled herself at the last minute. She wouldn't let him know that he'd somehow creeped under her skin.

She put on a fake smile and endured the drama when Davion came in. Colton grinned everytime his eyes fell upon her as if he knew the inner battle that she was facing to control her urges to slap him. Thankfully, Davion whisked him away to some pub and Victoria breathed a sigh of relief. She realized that coming to Sofia's house to meet Colton was a mistake. He wasn't worth the effort she had made. She decided to talk to Sofia and then leave the next morning.

End Of Flashback

"Sofi? Where are you?" She asked, walking into her sister's room. Sofia was nowhere around! She looked into the closet but she wasn't there. She opened her en-suite and gasped seeing Sofia lying unconscious on the floor. Panicking, she rushed outside and yelled for Greta.

Greta came rushing into the room. "What happened?" She asked, looking extremely frightened. Then looking around she asked,"Where's Sofia?"

"Come quickly, Greta. Sofia's lying unconscious on the bathroom floor," she said, rushing back to the bathroom. Greta hurried after her and they somehow carried Sofia into the room  and laid her down on her bed.

Greta revived Sofia  by sprinkling some water onto her face. "I'll get you something to eat. You could have called me if you were nauseated. I think you need to show  doctor. This isn't any food poisoning. I think you're pregnant, " said Greta. Sofia stared at Greta blankly. Pregnant? How would she tell Davion that she was pregnant when he told her pointedly that he didn't want any children? He would yell at her again when he knew that she didn't take the morning-after pill.

"No please. I can't be pregnant. This is a stomach bug and it'll go away in a day or two," said Sofia, hesitantly.

"No, Sofia. You're coming with me to the doctor," said Victoria, sternly.

"I can't possibly go anywhere," said Sofia weakly.

"We could summon the doctor who lives nearby," suggested Greta.

"Yeah, that'll be great. Why don't you call him? I'm here with Sofi, " Victoria said to Greta. She nodded and went out to call the doctor who lived a few houses down the street.

The doctor arrived in a few minutes and after checking Sofia confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. Sofia was very upset with the news but Greta was very happy. Victoria was a little worried but she didn't show her feelings. She decided to stay on for a few days till Sofia was a little better.

Davion didn't return at night and Victoria found it rather strange that while Sofia was unwell with her child, he was roaming around in pubs. She wanted to talk to Sofia about the actual status of her marriage but with her condition deteriorating, she couldn't ask anything. She slept with her sister and in the wee hours of the morning, returned back to the guest room.

Davion was returning home from the local pub when he saw the same guy near his home, the one who was with Sofia at her college. The guy was walking down the street right in front of his house. Suspicious, Davion hid himself and watched but didn't see the guy going inside his house to talk to Sofia. After a few minutes, the guy retraced his steps back, passing Davion's house again. Davion fumed watching him pass his house again. What was he upto? Was he looking for an opportunity to meet his wife? The guy passed his house four times and finally when Davion decided to confront him, he disappeared down the street. He didn't return for the next forty minutes. After the guy left, it was quite late and he went to Colton's house and slept.

The next morning, Colton watched him pace the floor, leaving his cup of coffee untouched on the table.  "What's up with you, bro? Did you fight with Sofia?" Asked Colton. Davion shook his head.

"You can tell me. I might be able to help you," said Colton.

"No, you can't, " said Davion, stubbornly. He walked out of Colton's house and jogged towards him, which wasn't very far off. He decided to ask Victoria if she knew anything about what was bothering Davion. Davion stormed into the house and went upstairs but to his surprise, Sofia was still sleeping. How much can she sleep? He didn't disturb her and took a shower and got ready for work. Yet she didn't wake up. Feeling frustrated, he stormed out of the room and went to work. However, he couldn't concentrate much on his work. All his life, he had seen his mom betray his dad. He didn't trust women but after being with Sofia, after knowing her, after falling in love with her, he had started trusting her. However, after seeing her with another guy made him angry with himself for trusting her so blindly, for giving his heart to her so easily. How could he do this to himself? How could he make himself so vulnerable? All his life he had protected his heart from such things and now when he finally started to believe in love Sofia decided to betray him.

A call from his most popular Casino in New York disrupted his thoughts and he called Greta to pack him a suitcase and send it through Francis. He needed to leave for New York for a few days. He would continue his discussion. Greta found it strange that he didn't interact with Sofia who was unwell and pregnant with his child and was planning to go to New York. She needed to talk to Davion once he returned.

Sofia watched Greta pack a suitcase for Davion with a worried expression. She had no idea what was going on. Where was Davion off to now? He didn't think it necessary to inform her at all. She felt hurt. After everything she shared with him, after giving herself up to him so selflessly, how could he be so insensitive towards her?

"Why are you packing, Greta?" Asked Sofia, unable to contain herself anymore.

"Davion hasn't informed you? He's leaving for New York right away," said Greta with a sad expression on her face.

"Oh! No, he hasn't informed me yet. Maybe he's busy," said Sofia trying to sound casual and hiding the hurt in her tone. Greta nodded knowing the true state of her heart but she didn't say a word. After packing up, she turned to look at Sofia's glassy eyes, brimming with tears. She left the trolley case and walked towards Sofia and pulled her into a hug.

"It's okay, honey. Misunderstandings happen in every marriage but don't wait for him to initiate the talks. You can always ask him why he's behaving the way he is, can't you? Don't let your misunderstandings grow, dear. Clear it as soon as you can," advised Greta. Sofia wiped her eyes and nodded.

"You're right, Greta. I'll clear it with him when he returns," she sighed.
