Chapter Twenty
Sofia selected a blue, strappy, soft, satin beach dress which flowed around her legs in waves. Brushing her hair till it shone, she clipped on a pair of dainty pearl studs encrusted with blue stones all around them. Applying light makeup and a whiff of her favorite perfume she was ready before Davion emerged from the bedroom.
She walked into the master bedroom and saw that Davion was ready too. He glanced at her, his eyes taking her in minutely. Sofia blushed as his gaze appraised her whole body leaving a tingling warmth in its wake. "Where are we going?" She asked. Davion smiled.
"Just dinner, " he informed her but his eyes twinkled with excitement. Sofia smiled seeing his enthusiasm. He led her outside and down to the ground floor and Davion led her towards a paved ledge floating over a pool of blue, crystal clear water. A private table was set against the blue backdrop surrounded by tiki torches. A white tent was set up on stilts above the ledge giving the place some privacy. The table was surrounded by candles and positioned to give them the best view of the ocean, beach as well as the sunset on the beach.
Davion helped her to one of the chairs. "It's so heavenly. I've never seen anything this beautiful, " said Sofia, staring at the sky which was a shade of red and orange against the golden white sand. The soft tent fabric billowing in the breeze was a stark contrast against the scenery beyond.
"I have," said Davion, which made Sofia turn to look at him with curiosity. She blushed seeing his eyes glued to her, the underlying meaning very clear for her to comprehend.
"So what will you have?" He asked her, handing her the menu card with a small smile playing on his lips. He looked happy and Sofia felt that she might be the cause of it. A warm feeling spread all over her heart. Their specialty cocktail arrived and Sofia sipped on it as she scanned the menu card.
"Why don't you suggest the best? It's your hotel after all," said Sofia with a sigh. All the dishes seemed mouthwatering and it was difficult for her to choose. A waitress arrived and walked up to him, smiling and fluttering her eye lashes at him. She went as close to him as permissible.
"I'm Rosita, your waitress tonight. What can I get you Mr Torres?" She asked, staring at him with lusty eyes. Davion didn't even look in her direction. He was used to this sort of a thing. He scanned the menu card briefly and placed his order, looking at Sofia for her approval. She nodded but glared at the waitress who seemed to go as close to Davion as possible as if she wanted to jump into his lap.
"That's all," said Davion, briefly glancing at her and waving her off. The waitress seemed oblivious of his rebuff and walked away happily without even casting a look in Sofia's direction.
"Bi*ch!" Said Sofia with a scowl. Davion grinned at her.
"Are you jealous, Sofia?" He asked her curiously.
"Of course. It was her duty to ask me too but she just jumped at you and you entertained her instead of telling her to maintain her distance. Maybe if I weren't there, you would have had some fun with her," she fumed, looking away.
"You really sound like a jealous wife!" Davion grinned. Sofia glanced at him angrily and his smile widened. "You look adorable being jealous," he said and Sofia smiled shyly at last.
"I don't entertain my employees, Sofia. I might not be a Saint but I have certain principles which I never break. And ever since I saw you, I swear I've never slept or touched another woman," said Davion, staring into her eyes. Sofia noted that he looked sincere and nodded, believing him. Davion released a sigh of relief. A beautiful music played in the background for them and they watched the sun finally setting over the ocean. It was a beautiful evening as Davion sat holding her hand in his, softly stroking it, making her feel lost in his warm touch.
Their food arrived and the waitress placed everything in front of Davion, leaning over him to refill his glass while Sofia fumed with anger. She noticed that the waitress had popped out two more buttons on her blouse to show off her cleavage. "Mr Torres, what else can I do for you?" She asked, handing him a bunch of paper napkins with her pbone number written on the topmost one.
"You can refill my wife's glass to start with," said Davion, looking at Rosita angrily. She fumbled hearing him and picked up Sofia glass and without casting her a look, she refilled her glass. Sofia felt her appetite go away. Rosita tried to serve the food to Davion by going closer to him when he raised a hand to her to stop her. He picked up his mobile phone and called the manager of his restaurant. Rosita looked a little taken aback but before she could escape, the restaurant manager, Mr. Martine came hurrying towards their table.
"Yes sir, did you call me? Is there anything wrong, sir?" He asked, nervously glancing at Rosita.
"Don't you have any better waiters around, Mr Martine? I don't need wh*res sent to my table. I'm here on a honeymoon and my wife is neglected and not served anything. How do you select your staff? I'm very disappointed in your service. I want this woman thrown out immediately and have the food sent to my penthouse, " yelled a furious Davion while Rosita trembled with fear. The manager glared at Rosita and then tried to calm Davion down.
"I'm extremely sorry, sir. This won't happen again. Please give us a chance. I'll send someone immediately to serve you," said Mr Martine, looking like he would burst into tears any moment. He looked at Sofia. "I'm sorry ma'am. Please give us a chance. I'll serve you myself," said the manager.
Davion got up and caught Sofia's hand and stormed out of the restaurant. "Send our food upstairs," he ordered, walking towards the elevators. There was a pin-dropped silence in the whole place as everyone looked too scared to even say a word. Davion pulled Sofia to his penthouse and unlocked the door. He led her inside and closed the door with a bang. Sofia knew that he was extremely angry.
"It's okay, Davion. Calm down, please. Let's enjoy our dinner here?" Said Sofia, wrapping her arms around his torso. Davion sighed and held her close.
"I'm sorry that you had to experience that, Sofia," he apologized, breathing into her hair.
"Does it happen all the time?" Asked Sofia, curiously.
"Yes but I'm immune to it," said Davion. There was a knock on their door as the food arrived and Davion reluctantly released her and went to open the door.
Two waiters brought in their food, crockery, fresh red roses and candles and quickly laid the table for them. They served the welcoming drink and served them the food.
"Thank you, we'll do it ourselves now," said Davion. After they left, Davion and Sofia sat on the dining room facing the beach and the ocean and enjoyed their meal.
"I'll need to work the next two days and then I'll be free. I'll show you around LA. Have you ever been here?" He asked curiously. Sofia nodded her head.
"Yes, I came with my parents on a holiday when I was eight," she informed him with a smile.
"Do you remember anything that you saw?" He asked with a smile.
"Not much except Disneyland and Universal Studios," shrugged Sofia.
"Okay then. We'll see the rest," he told him.
"It's okay if you're busy, " said Sofia, not really wanting to impose upon him. He was a very busy man.
"I'm always available for you, Sofia, " he said, making a warm blush creep up her cheeks. The way he spoke, the way he made her feel so special, the way he stood up for her, the promises of a happily ever after marriage that he made, the way he made love, everything made her fall for him more and more with each passing day. Sofia refused to acknowledge it and pushed it to the far corners of her mind and enjoyed the meal with her husband. He played a slow romantic number and asked her for a dance.
Sofia placed her hand in his and he pulled her closer for a slow and passionate dance. She could feel his hot mouth on her neck as he swayed along, his hands going to her hips, crushing her to his hard arousal.
"I want to be inside you, Sofia. Did you think about what I said?" He asked in a husky whisper. Sofia shook her head. With so much drama happening, she hadn't been able to think at all. In fact, it had completely escaped her mind.
"You gave me twenty-four hours to get myself ready, didn't you?" She pointed out.
"I can't survive twenty-four hours! I want you now!" He said in a hoarse whisper, picking her up in his arms and striding towards the master bedroom.
