Game Of Love

Sofia felt miserable. Davion was going through hell and yet he hadn't considered it necessary to inform her. She was his wife after all! Determined, she stood up, from the couch. She wouldn't sit back and watch her husband's name being maligned. She would find out the truth and stand up for him if he was indeed innocent. 

Sofia picked up her mobile phone and her wallet and walked out of the penthouse, locking the door behind her. She went to the reception and approached their manager, Jake Priestley.

"Mr Priestley, I need to see Davion right now. It's important. Do you have any idea where his press conference is being held?" She asked him. Mr Priestley looked a little uncomfortable. 

"I request you to arrange for a car to take me to him. This is urgent, " said Sofia. After hesitating a little, Mr Priestley finally gave in. 

"Alright, Mrs Torres, I'll have you dropped at Fort Torres Hotels and Casinos in Downtown LA where the press conference is being held," said Mr Priestley. 

Sofia was relieved that he had finally agreed to help her. "Thank you, Mr Priestley, " she said, curtly. 

Mr Priestley nodded. "Please come this way, ma'am, " he said, leading her towards the main entrance. He had a word with one of the chauffeurs present and soon a white BMW pulled up right in front of her.

"Charles will drive you to the venue, ma'am, " said Mr Priestley. 

Sofia thanked him and climbed in and Charles drove her towards Downtown LA. On the way, she searched for any news she could find about Davion's case on the internet. As she scrolled through, she found what she was looking for. 

As per the article, Carolyn Stewart, a budding actress was allegedly seen with Davion Torres for a few days. There were speculations that they would tie the knot when Davion suddenly married a young teenager whom no one knew of. The strangest thing according to the news channels was that Davion hadn't even announced his marriage and kept it a secret from the press. When Carolyn came to know of the news, she broke down and sued Davion for deceit, betrayal and rape, seeking to malign Davion's name in front of the press and gain public support. Davion however denied the charges and claimed that there was nothing between him and Carolyn. He further gave a statement that Carolyn was broke and used him for money.  

Sofia released a staggering breath. She had no idea why Davion married her or why he hid the news of their marriage from the world but right now she wanted to be there for him. 

Charles drove the car right through the gigantic gates of Fort Torres Hotels and Casinos and stopped in front of the huge entrance. He climbed out and opened the door for her. "Thank you Charles, " she said with a small smile. He smiled back and led her towards the reception desk.

"This is Mrs Torres. She needs to be escorted towards the conference room where the press conference is being held," said Charles. The receptionist's eyes widened and she stood up immediately. 

"I'm sorry ma'am. Sir will be furious if we send anyone inside, " she apologized with folded hands. "I'll lose my job, ma'am. Please understand, " she pleaded. 

"If you don't take me there then I'll ensure that you lose your job," said Sofia to the receptionist who gave Charles a pleading look. 

"This is urgent for ma'am. Sir will be relieved to see her," said Charles. The receptionist was in a dilemma but eventually she gave in and came forward.

"Okay, I don't have any choice, I guess. Please come this way  ma'am, " she said, leading Sofia towards the elevator that led them to the conference room. Sofia dreaded Davion's reaction but she couldn't stay back at the penthouse and just watch. 

The receptionist spoke to the security guards who stood outside the door and they opened it and allowed Sofia inside. She walked inside, her eyes wide with dread. The whole place was teeming with people. There were reporters   of all shapes and sizes. Davion and Colton sat with a scowl with three lawyers while Carolyn sat with her lawyer. 

"Tell us why have you kept your wedding a secret, Mr Torres?" Asked one of the reporters. 

"We had a misunderstanding, a lover's tiff and he married only to take it out on me," said Carolyn with a sneer. "It isn't a real marriage. "

"That's the biggest lie, ever. I didn't announce it for the sake of privacy. I didn't want anyone to disturb us at the moment, " said Davion. 

Sofia walked towards the table where they all sat and suddenly Davion's eyes fell upon her. He immediately got up with shock.

"Sofia! What are you doing here?" He gasped, walking towards her. There was a pin drop silence in the room as the reporters started to realize what was happening. 

"Hello viewers, this is the moment all of you had been waiting for, to see Davion Torres's wife, Sofia Torres. She's here with us today and let's see what she has to say to the whole affair. Will she file for divorce from Mr Torres? How will Carolyn Stewart react to Mrs Torres, her arch rival?" Spoke one of the reporters into his camera.

Davion reached Sofia and caught her arm. "Why are you here, Sofia? This place isn't safe," he yelled at her, roughly pulling her into his arms and wrapping his arm around her shoulder. He wanted to protect her from all the flashlights and cameras which had gone into a frenzy, clicking their pictures. 

"This is the most happening news today. It seems that there's trouble in paradise.  Mr Torres is yelling at his fake wife. Would he return to Carolyn forever? Would he divorce his wife? Watch everything live on Alpha TV, " said a reporter excitedly into his microphone and camera. Carolyn smiled and posed for the reporter more as he zoomed in on her. Colton got up to stop the cameras for a while. He gestured towards the guards to stop the live event. 

"I just saw you on TV and I couldn't sit back and watch," said Sofia, looking scared and so vulnerable that Davion felt a tug at his heartstrings. Did she come here to break off with him? A panic gripped his heart at the thought. He hadn't wanted Sofia to know about this sordid state of things with Carolyn. He wanted to just wrap it up discreetly but the press conference being aired everywhere, his wishes crumbled to dust. 

"Sofia, I can explain this, please," he pleaded with a tortured expression on his face. 

"Mrs Torres, here, can we have your attention here please. Did you know about these slanderous allegations against your husband?" Asked a reporter. Davion glared at him, pushing the camera away.

"The press meet will resume in a moment. Stop this immediately, " he growled at the reporters, gesturing towards Colton. 

"Mrs Torres, will you file for a divorce now?" Asked another reporter. 

"I said that's all, stop this recording immediately, " ordered Davion. 

A loud laugh rang in the air and all eyes fell upon Carolyn Stewart, giving an interview to one of the reporters. "I'm sure that this is the end of our small tiff. We'll be united soon," she said, puffing up her hair. 

"Get out of the room, everyone. The press conference is over, " Davion said, looking apprehensive. He didn't want the whole world to see Sofia break up with him. Colton and the security guards tried to stop the reporters but still one broke free and approached Sofia. 

"Mrs Torres, please say something about your husband's betrayal. Did he tell you about his affair with Ms Stewart before the wedding?" Asked a reporter. Before Davion could yell at the reporter, Sofia held up her hand to him. She would settle this once and for all. 

"Stop these allegations immediately or else I'll sue each and every one of your channels for maligning my husband's name. What proof do you have behind your allegations? My husband is a famous celebrity and there would be plenty to gold- diggers around him. Would you make an issue out of each and every slanderous remark they make against him?" Said Sofia in a calm and calculated manner, looking straight at the reporter, right in the eye. He was taken aback by her answer. It was obvious that he hadn't expected that from someone so young and innocent looking. 

"To answer your question, yes I know everything about my husband that's important. There's nothing to know about Ms Stewart as she doesn't hold any importance in our lives. Our marriage is as real as could be. We're united for life, so there's no space for this sort of misunderstanding, ever. We trust one another completely. If I hear one more word against my husband's name, I'll sue the channel you work for," said Sofia, in a threatening tone. There was a pin drop silence in the room. 

Sofia turned her attention towards Carolyn who glaring at her with a scowl, her hands into fists. Sofia walked towards her slowly.
