Chapter Fourteen
It was late when Davion came back. Colton had returned after getting a grip over himself. Davion had no idea of his whereabouts for the last few weeks ever since his mom had died. An emergency at the Club Torres Casino and Hotels, their main business in Reno soon had them busy the whole day.
Davion walked into the house, tired and exhausted from a whole day of running around. Strangely he had missed seeing Sofia's innocent and adorable face the whole day! He had missed fighting with her! He was worried about her the whole day and although he was at work, his heart and mind remained at home. Was he getting obsessed with his wife?
A light in the living room made him alert. He walked towards it and seeing Sofia asleep on the sofa waiting for him, made his heart clench. He wasn't used to anyone waiting for him after his dad died. He had always been lonely. He stood staring at Sofia's serene face looking all the more beautiful. He walked into the kitchen to get himself a bottle of water when he saw that the dinner that Greta had cooked was untouched. He felt his heart skip a beat. Sofia had been waiting to have dinner with him! She might have fallen asleep on an empty stomach! Excitement coursed through Davion's body thinking of Sofia. For the first time he felt as if he had someone to call his own, someone who waited for him, someone who cared even if she didn't admit to it.
He walked over to her and stood by her side. She was un deep sleep and he didn't want to wake her up. Scooping her soft, creamy body up in his arms, he walked up the stairs to his bedroom. Sofia wrapped her arms around his neck and snuggled closer. Something stirred inside Davion's heart and his heart started beating faster and faster. How he wished he could feel this soft creature against him forever! His friend down there stirred up in response, growing harder as thoughts of making love to Sofia was all he could think of. He entered his room and lay her down on the bed. Quickly taking a cold shower to calm his horny thoughts, he wore a pair of sweatpants and climbed into the bed beside his sleeping wife.
He hadn't been able to tell Colton about Sofia knowing how he would disrupt his peaceful bubble if he knew. At the moment he needed a little privacy with Sofia and Colton would ensure that he didn't have it at all. He would sit on their heads and literally start living here the moment he came to know. Davion couldn't allow that. Colton being younger and too co*ky with women, he couldn't take the risk. What if his young wife fell for his charms instead? Jealousy gripped his heart. No, he wouldn't let Colton know till he had won Sofia's heart, soul as well as body and branded her as his. And he had to act soon!
He scooped her in his arms and pulled her closer against his bare torso. A deep sigh of contentment escaped his lips as her soft body touched his bare skin. He had no idea when he dozed off to sleep inhaling the sweet fragrance of his wife.
Sofia woke up feeling her stomach grumble with hunger. She looked around and found herself on Davion's bed. How did she land up here? Last she remembered, she was downstairs on the living room sofa, waiting for Davion. Did he come in at night?
She looked at the other side of the bed. It was cold but it did look like he had slept in. She could get the intoxicating smell of his body wash and cologne on her own body. It made her blush thinking about how they might have slept with one other. But where was he? She quickly refreshed up and rushed downstairs to see a chirpy Greta making breakfast in the kitchen.
"Good morning, Sofia, didn't you have your dinner, last night?" Asked Greta, curiously.
"No, I fell asleep waiting for Davion, " said Sofia, picking her coffee and plateful of the steaming breakfast that Greta had prepared. She looked around in the living room and the dining room. He wasn't there anywhere. Strangely Sofia didn't feel very happy as she should have been to see him not there. She sat down to eat, looking a little dejected. Greta came out of the kitchen with a plate of fruit salad for her.
"Davion didn't even have his breakfast. He was in such a hurry to leave, " complained Greta. Sofia was disappointed that he was gone again without informing her.
"Does he always do like this?" Asked Sofia with a sad face. She needed to talk to him regarding her college admission but it seemed as if he was trying to avoid her.
"Yeah, he's always reckless," said Greta disapprovingly.
"I need to go out, Greta," she told her. Greta nodded.
"Take the keys with you in case you return late," said Greta. "Which car are you going to take?" She asked curiously.
"I'll take a cab," said Sofia. She didn't want to use any of Davion's expensive cars without his permission. Greta left to resume her work and Sofia ate her breakfast and then went to take a shower. Her dad had forwarded her the transfer certificate from her college. She had looked up the colleges around Reno where she could continue with her studies. She had decided to visit FIDM at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Afterwards, she left Davion's house and took a cab to the Reno campus. The whole morning she spent at the campus, filling up the admission form and talking to the counselor present.
It was well past lunchtime when Davion could complete his work and return home. He had successfully been able to avoid Colton who wanted to stay with him for a few days. Davion stormed into the house in a hurry, the wish to see his lovely wife was utmost on his mind.
However, he only saw Greta and the other workers in his entire property. He didn't see Sofia anywhere. He rushed upstairs to his room and peered into all the rooms but she wasn't there anywhere. Fear gripped his heart. Had she escaped him?
He rushed downstairs and walked up to Greta, looking agitated, furious and worried. "Greta, where's Sofia? I didn't find her anywhere," said Davion.
"Oh, she needed to go out," said Greta, looking at Davion's agitated face with worry.
"When did she leave? Which car did she take?" Asked Davion, worriedly.
"She left immediately after breakfast. She didn't take any car Davion although I had asked her to. She said that she'd take a cab," shrugged Greta. Davion was now sure that Sofia had left him and escaped in his absence. He stood looking lost, with his arms in top of his head, thinking of what to do. Should he file a complaint with the police?
"Is anything the matter, Davion?" Asked Greta, worriedly.
"Did she tell you where she went, Greta?" Asked Davion.
"No, I forgot to ask and neither did she mention anything, " informed Greta. Seeing Davion's reaction she was worried about what was happening.
"I didn't know that she wasn't allowed to go out. I'm sorry, Davion. Why don't you call her and ask her where she is?" Suggested Greta.
"I don't have her number," said Davion looking helplessly at her. Then an idea hit him and he called her dad to ask for her phone number. They were very worried but nevertheless gave him her phone number. He promised to call them if he found any news about her whereabouts.
He tried calling her number but strangely she didn't accept his call. Davion was certain now that she was on the run.
"I think I'll call the police and inform them about her," he said. Just as he was about to call the police, the doorbell rang. Greta rushed to open the door while Davion stared at the door hopefully. But to his horror, it was Colton with a backpack full of clothes! He had come over to stay!
"You? What are you doing here? I thought that I had made it clear to you that you cannot stay here," yelled Davion. He had gone mad seeing his disgusting friend at his doorstep when he had repeatedly told him not to come.
"Ouch, bro. You're turning me away? Me? I'm the only one you have," said Colton with a grin, as he sauntered into the house with his stuff. Greta watched the two with amusement. It was clear that Davion hadn't told his friend and brother about his marriage. Greta wasn't surprised. She had been with Davion for the past four years and knew how possessive he was about his stuff. So his possessiveness about Sofia was natural!
Davion pushed Colton but he was as stubborn as a mule. He refused to budge an inch. "I'm staying bro. I won't go. What's wrong with you? Are you trying to hide something or someone from me?" Asked Colton, suspiciously. Davion's mouth hung open. How did he know?
However, before he could deny Colton's charges, the main door opened and a tired looking Sofia walked into the house.
