Chapter Twenty-Five
True to his promise, Davion ensured that the next few days were the happiest ones in Sofia's life. They spent every moment with one another, getting to know each other. They walked hand in hand on the beaches at sunset, had romantic dates, enjoyed the attractions that LA had to offer and at night, made passionate love to one another. It was a honeymoon in the true sense of the word.
"We'll go back home tomorrow morning," announced Davion with a sigh. Sofia wasn't affected at all by the news. Whether it was here or at home, she would be happy anywhere in the world as long as Davion was with her. With each passing day, her love for Davion kept on increasing by leaps and bounds. The way he obsessed over her, the way he took care of her, the way he made her feel special all the time, all pointed to only one truth. The truth that he was in love with her. Although he hadn't explicitly told her that he loved her but her heart knew. Sofia didn't want to force him to confess his feelings since she knew that he didn't believe in the feelings of love and relationships. Maybe one day, when he came to terms with his own feelings for her, he would confess. Till then she would wait and just show him how much she loved him.
"Sure, I'll be glad to return home," she said, laying her head on his chest, hearing his rapidly beating heart.
"I want to forget everything and live here forever with you," said Davion, closing his eyes. He hated his fame, it made his life an open book for the paparazzi to pounce upon. He was scared that his past might catch up and create problems with his future. He had a string hook-ups in his past whom he hadn't given a thought yet they pursued him like crazy. They never affected him one bit as he wasn't answerable to anyone for his actions but now things were different. He truly loved Sofia and was answerable to her for everything he did. He didn't want those crazy bi*tches to affect his relationship with Sofia. Even thinking about it made him release a staggering breath.
Sofia's hold tightened around his torso. "It doesn't matter where we are, Davion. What matters is that we're together! What matters more is that I'll always love you, no matter what," swore Sofia. Davion looked at her with uncertainty.
"Promise me that you'll always love me, please Sofia, " he pleaded. Sofia looked at him with a puzzled look on her face. She had no idea what was going on in his head.
"Of course I will, Davion. It's a feeling straight from my heart," she assured him. Davion clasped her hands into his.
"Thank you," he said, pulling her close. They fell asleep in each other's arms, each lost in their own dreams.
The next morning, after a hasty breakfast, they loaded everything onto Davion's helicopter and flew out of LA towards home. Davion had already called Greta and informed her of their arrival. It was noon by the time the reached home. Davion directly went to work while Sofia freshened up, unpacked and then checked up with the Academic Coordinator of her University regarding her classes. To her relief, classes would start the next day. She called home and spoke to her parents as well as Victoria.
"Now can I come over?" Asked Victoria, excitedly.
"What about your classes?" Asked Sofia with surprise.
"Damn! Why did you have to remind me? I have an assessment coming right up. I guess I'd have to wait for a month to visit you," said Victoria with a pout.
Sofia smiled at her twin's excitement to meet Colton Glenn. "Do you think Colton has a girl, already?" Asked Victoria curiously.
"I really don't know," said Sofia helplessly.
"Then can't you find out?" Asked Victoria impatiently.
"Okay, I'll find out but why are you so interested in him? You haven't seen him," said Sofia.
Victoria giggled. "I Googled him. He's so hot! I've been crushing on him since the moment I saw his picture, " admitted Victoria with a chuckle.
"Heaven help you, Vicky. I'll try to find out about him from Davion and update you, okay?" She asked.
"That'd be great. Waiting to hear from you. Bye," said Victoria, disconnecting the call. Sofia smiled indulgently at the mobile phone thinking about her twin and her antics. How could she start crushing on Colton just from seeing his pictures?
By afternoon, she received a call from Davion that Colton was coming home to dinner. She rolled her eyes thinking about Vicky's wish to know more about Colton. How would she ask? Whom would she ask? Colton himself or Davion? Asking Davion seemed to be a better choice. She walked into the kitchen and updated Greta. She smiled and quickly decided on the menu for dinner.
"Tell me what I need to do, Greta. I'll help you," offered Sofia.
"No no, Sofia. You must be tired from your traveling. I'll manage, " said Greta.
"I insist, Greta. I want to cook for Davion," said Sofia and Greta smiled warmly at her. She instructed her on what to do and the next two hours they chatted, laughed and cooked together.
"Why don't you change while I give finishing touches to the dishes?" Suggested Greta. Sofia ran upstairs to change onto a beautiful lavender color, sleeveless dress with a a-line silhouette and crystal embellishments along the round neckline. Sweeping her hair up in a twisted and casual bun, she allowed a few tendrils to escape. Satisfied with her look she went downstairs just as the main door opened and Davion walked inside with Colton.
The moment Davion saw her, he stopped in his tracks and opened his arms out for her. Sofia ran into his arms and clung to his neck. It was really strange that the four hours that they had been apart seemed like four years to them. It was obvious from the way Davion engulfed her in his arms that he had missed her as much as she did.
"You're looking lovely, baby," he whispered into her ear. Sofia blushed and released him but he kept his hold on her waist and pecked her mouth. Sofia blushed to the roots of her hair seeing a grinning Colton staring at them with a sh*t-eating grin on his face.
"God! You two are so cheesy!" He said with an eye roll.
"Once you get married, I'll say the same thing to you," Greta said to Colton as she into the room.
"That day will never come, Greta. I'm not the one who can ever be tied down to a single woman, " said Colton with a shrug.
"We'll see about that, son. You never know what the future holds for you. I'm sure that God has created someone for you too, " Greta said.
"I don't believe in that sh*t," said Colton.
"Time will tell, son," said Greta, taking Davion's laptop and his car keys from him and walking away.
"Dinner's ready. I'll lay the table whenever you're hungry," said Sofia.
"I'm always hungry," said Colton with a grin.
"Okay, I'll serve dinner in a few minutes," said Sofia, walking away towards the dining room. Sofia sighed, deep in thought. She didn't like Colton's views on life and relationships. The way he argued with Greta, she came to know a lot about Colton. She was eager to warn Victoria not to get her hopes up on Colton. He wasn't the right guy for her. Greta joined her soon and they laid the table together while Davion and Colton sipped some beer in the living room. Once done, Sofia went to summon them.
"Wow, this is a meal for a king!" Said Colton, seeing the wide array of delicious food that was spread out on the table. Davion chuckled.
"Are you any less than a king?" He joked. He tasted a forkful and then turned towards Greta. "This isn't your cooking, " Davion pointed out.
Greta smiled warmly. "No, Sofia cooked the steak," she informed him. Davion turned his attention towards her.
"Really? This is the most delicious steak I've ever tasted," he admitted. "I could kiss the hands of the cook and thank her forever," he added with a twinkle in his eyes. Sofia blushed when everyone chuckled.
"Aren't you two adorable?" Gasped Greta, smiling and walking into the kitchen.
The rest of the time they talked about their trip to LA and Sofia's college. "Why don't you too complete your graduation, Colt?" Asked Davion. Sofia looked up with curiosity. She suddenly realized that at twenty, Colton should have been in college too.
"I'm not interested in college any more, bro. I'm too old for it," said Colton, waving him off.
"You could do it online if you don't want to go to college, " insisted Davion.
Colton brushed him off with disinterest. "You should complete a basic degree, Colton. It's important," pointed out Sofia.
"I couldn't since dad died and I had to look after the business and now, I don't have the time or wish to start all over again," said Colton. Sofia didn't push further. It was his life after all but she decided to inform Victoria that definitely Colton wasn't meant for her. Victoria valued education and was a grade A student. She was extremely intelligent and very career-oriented. In fact she was just the opposite of what Colton was. They could never get on with one another!
