Chapter Eleven

Just as the thought of escape entered her head, Davion unlocked her door and walked in, as if he had read through her mind. Sofia's mouth hung open realizing that he had the keys to the room. His eyes checked her out briefly from head to foot and Sofia was shocked to see a fleeting look of intense hunger in them. But it was instantly gone just like it had appeared.

"Ready?" He asked impatiently, as if in a hurry to leave. Sofia sighed as her only chance of escape was lost now. She nodded slightly, not meeting his piercing eyes which seemed to read her soul. Davion looked at the attendants who were following him and nodded at them. They walked into the room to carry all the luggage outside.

However, instead of leading her to the elevator, Davion led her to a flight of steps that led to God knows where. They already were on the top floor!

"Are we going to heaven?" Gritted out Sofia, feeling pissed off for not knowing what was happening around her. Davion chuckled, making her more disgusted with her situation.

"Yes, with me," he said with a grin on his face. Sofia rolled her eyes at him wishing that she could wipe that grin off his face forever! A loud and continuous vibrating noise hit her as they walked towards the door that led to the terrace. It was so deafening and shrill that Sofia closed her ears and followed Davion, curiously looking at the closed door. He swung the door open and the noise got louder and louder. He led her onto the terrace of his hotel and Sofia gasped seeing a majestic, metallic black and silver streamlined helicopter awaiting them on the helipad at the terrace. Her jaws dropped with astonishment! They would travel to Reno in a helicopter?

"Oh!" She gasped but her words weren't audible due to the deafening sound of the aircraft in front of them. Davion placed his hand at the small of her back and led her towards his airbus. The pilot slid open the door for them and Davion helped her inside. He greeted the pilot and sat down beside her. Sofia looked around the plush interiors of the aircraft admiring it immensely but she was acutely aware of Davion sitting exceptionally close to her. There wasn't an inch of space between them and she could feel his thighs brush with hers as they sat together. The helicopter could easily seat 7 then why was he sitting literally on top of her?

"Can't you move? You're squashing me," She gritted out into his ear but he leaned more towards her, and her lips brushed with his skin. A whiff of exotic cologne tingled her nostrils and she jumped away as if stung.

"Get used to it," he whispered back and with a smirk he looked away outside the window. Sofia knew that the devil had noted her reaction to him and looked immensely satisfied with himself. She tried to ignore his nearness and concentrated on the view outside the window as they took off, leaving the helipad and flying higher and higher.

He poured himself a drink from the beverage cool box and held out a glass for her too. Sofia took it from him. "Thanks," she said, sipping it silently. The refreshing peach and raspberry drink was exactly what she needed.

"Like it?" Asked Davion, seeing her face light up as she drank what he handed over to her. It was the first time ever since they were married that he saw the look of genuine happiness. Sofia looked up at him to answer him but then realized what a mistake she had made for his face was too near hers. In fact it was inches away from hers while his eyes gazed back at her. Sofia was too hypnotized and under their spell to look away.

"Have you fallen for me, already?" He asked in almost a whisper. Sofia blinked at his question with shock. What the hell!

"High hopes! I'll never fall for someone like you," she gritted out and looked away  scooting as far away from him as possible. Davion chuckled, loving through way she always innocently reacted to him. For the first time in his entire life he was excited. Excited to be with this gorgeous woman, his wife. He couldn't wait to kiss her again. His whole body tingled with an intense need to kiss her.

Sofia knew that Davion was looking at her all the time but she refused to turn her head and look at him. She was waiting to reach his house and then dictate her terms of this marriage. She would surely want a marriage in name only, a contract marriage. She would never let him consummate their marriage and after a year, she would file a divorce and return to Las Vegas forever. Deep in thought, she had no idea when her eyes grew droopy and she fell asleep dreaming of a prince who whisked her away on horseback and married her in a beautiful mansion. But the moment he turned towards her, she froze as he was none other than Davion Torres.

She opened her eyes in shock but received a greater shock to see Davion's neck in front of her. She might have fallen asleep on his shoulder! How embarrassing could it get!

"Good that you woke up. We're about to land," said Davion.

Sofia sat straight and looked around. She could see the beautiful lake Tahoe a few miles ahead of them as they soared above the city of Reno. Within ten minutes, the aircraft landed at the helipad constructed on the terrace of a luxurious building.

"Welcome to Reno, Sofia, " said Davion softly, his eyes minutely taking in her reaction. Sofia didn't react at all to please him. Davion seemed to look a little disappointed at her lack of enthusiasm but soon camouflaged it with his signature smirk. He led her out of the helicopter and after a brief word with his pilot they walked into the building, down the elevator. Sofia was tired of running after him. It was late afternoon already and the sun was about to set soon in another hour or so. Despite catching up on a little sleep, shs felt exhausted. Was this Davion's home and her prison where she would need to spend the next one year of her life?

She looked around to realize that it was just another of Davion's hotels. All the employees were busy around them, some carrying her luggage, others talking to Davion while others rushed to open the doors for them. The rest simply gawked at her!

They were led to a white BMW, waiting for them right in front of the glass sliding doors on the huge patio of the property. His chauffeur opened the door for her and she climbed inside, thanking him.

"Francis, this is wife, Sofia. Sofia, this is Francis, my most trusted man," introduced Davion with a warm smile at Francis.

"Hello Francis. Nice to meet you," said Sofia, smiling similarly.

"Hello ma'am. First time in Reno?" He asked and Sofia nodded. However, Davion seemed upset at their chit chat and climbed in after her. He nodded at his chauffeur and Francis closed the door and climbed into his seat. He slowly drove the car out of the driveway.

"Done flirting with my chauffeur?" He asked her, looking angry and furious. Sofia gaped at him wordlessly. Was he crazy? She just said a polite word to the man for God's sake!

"A*sh*le, " muttered Sofia, scooting to the far end as far away from him as possible with disgust.

"Language, Sofia or you'll be punished. We'll reach home in ten minutes," he informed her.

Sofia nodded. 'Your home is my prison. Once we reach, I'll dictate my terms with you. Just you wait, Mr Torres,' she thought in her mind.

"Are you talking to yourself, my lovely wife?" He leaned in and asked her, making her jump.

"Yes, plotting to murder you. Are you scared, my handsome husband?" She asked angrily.

Davion laughed and Sofia fumed.

"So you admit that I'm handsome, right?" He asked, his signature smirk back on his face.

"Even Lucifer was handsome. So what's the big deal?" She shrugged.

"Was he?" He asked, looking amused. Sofia nodded and tried her best to ignore him but couldn't with him still watching her with hooded eyes. She felt like a worm under a microscope, not knowing why she was being inspected that way. However the torture ended and soon the car drove through the beautiful oak, maple and pine lined California Avenue towards Truckee River.

As they reached the riverside, Francis drove the car through majestic wrought iron gates onto a stone paved huge circular driveway. After being born and brought up in Las Vegas, the place looked like an oasis to Sofia with thousands of trees and plants of all shapes and sizes growing on the sprawling property. Sofia glanced wide-eyed at the stunning mansion with it's red tiled roof and stucco finish walls looking like some castle from a Disney movie. With the sky painted in myriad shades of orange and red, the place looked similar to heaven on earth.

The car stopped and Francis opened the door for them. "Welcome home, Sofia, " said Davion, scooping her up in his arms much to her surprise. He climbed out of the car and effortlessly carried her towards his home.
