Chapter Thirty-Eight
They left for college together but met Adam on their way out. "Angie, dad's coming home tomorrow early in the morning. Please return home tonight," he advised.
"Does she have to go back? Why can't she marry me and live with me?" Asked a dissatisfied Damian.
"Bro, when you ask for her hand and marry her you can take her away but before that happens, she has to stay with us. We three will get a blasting from dad if he found out," said Adam with a sigh.
"No, I won't let Angel go," said a stubborn Damian.
"Dude, do you want Angie to be sent away again?" He asked. Damian knew he meant the time when she was sent away to California.
"This time I'll bring her back to me from hell," he swore.
"Please Damian, it's just next door. Don't bring dad's wrath upon you before you ask for Angie's hand," he advised and Damian sighed. Did he have any say in this?
"Please Damian. We will meet every day till we get married. Yes?" Said Angela softly.
"Ok, what choice do I have?" He sighed, accepting the fact that she would have to go back home tonight. They went to college and in between classes he was able to snatch a few kisses from Angela. He couldn't help it, he was a needy guy and he didn't have much time left with her returning home tonight.
After college, they rushed home, and before she could go into the kitchen to heat the lunch, Damian pulled her into his arms.
She glared at him, "My stomach's grumbling, Damian, " she protested.
"My whole body's grumbling, what about that, huh?" He asked with a groan. His phone vibrated with a call from the police station. The officer informed him that Caitlyn had confessed to her crime and had been sentenced to a three-year behavioral rehabilitation under the Juvenile Act. She would be required to stay at the young offenders' institution during that time period. After the call was disconnected, he informed Angela of the good news.
"This calls for a celebration. We're eating out. It's a date," he said with a smile, and Angela squealed with delight. She kissed his cheek, but he grabbed her head and claimed her lips. Angela's hands went around his neck to support her jelly-like legs. His kisses were always deep and wild turning her on with desire. She needed the support when he grabbed her by the waist pulling her flush against his body, deepening the kiss.
He abruptly left her after a passionate kiss. "Let's eat first. We will continue with this after lunch," he winked and they went upstairs to freshen up.
They walked out of the house, to Damian's car and sped away. He took her to a small restaurant that she had never seen before. It was tucked away from the busy main road in a corner, hidden by a beautiful maple tree growing beside it.
"This place serves the best steak in the whole world. It's my favorite place to eat. My dad brought me here when I was ten and ever since I had been coming here to eat my favorite steak," said Damian with a smile that and reached his eyes. Angela could understand how special this place was to him.
"I can't wait to taste it," she said excitedly. He led her inside. The cozy decor and the warm wooden furniture and the bright furnishings made the cafe look very warm and inviting.
They chose a seat by the windows and a man came over. His salt and pepper hair made him look to be in his late sixties. He was slightly plump with a smiling countenance and he patted Damian indulgently. "Coming after six months, my boy," he said.
Damian grinned, "Yes uncle Jim. I want you to meet Angela, my girlfriend," he introduced and the man stretched his hand out.
"Hello dear, I'm Jim Robinson, owner of this cafe," he said and Angela smiled a greeting at him. "So you've grown up, huh?" He teased looking at Damian.
Damian grinned and scratched his head. Jim laughed and said, "So what would you guys like to order?" He asked.
"The same that I always eat out here," said Damian. "I want Angel to taste my favorite food in the whole world."
"Oh sure. I'll have it sent. Enjoy your meal, both of you," said Jim, leaving to talk to another customer.
They were served Texas Style Steak with onion rings, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Angela loved the food and agreed that she had never tasted anything so good in her life. "Can you make it for me?" Asked Damian.
"I can try," she said, tasting it, savoring the food to get a taste of the ingredients.
They left to go home. Damian was excited as he wanted to resume where he had left off. Before they could enter Damian's house, they saw Alex peering out of her house.
"Angie, pack your stuff and come home. Dad's reached Austin airport. He's on his way home," he yelled in panic. Angela's eyes widened and her heart started beating faster at the news.
She rushed inside to get her stuff. Damian stood like a statue. Why was her dad returning early? He frowned and asked Alex, "Wasn't uncle Gerry supposed to arrive tomorrow morning?"
"Yes he was and now he just called me to inform me that he's on his way. My girlfriend was here. I had to pack her off to her house at such short notice," Alex said, rolling his eyes with frustration.
They both sighed at their bad luck. Angela came down and kissed Damian's cheek. "I'll meet you every day, Damian," she promised and Damian nodded.
She hurried into her house and saw a tired Adam, cleaning the mess that their house was in. Even Alex joined in to clean. Angela rushed upstairs to her room and keeping her stuff, came down to help them. They cleaned the house just on time and sat down to catch up their breaths when the doorbell rang. Angela got up and opened the door. Their dad came inside and hugged Angela.
"How have you been, sweetie?" He asked.
"Fine dad," she answered with a smile.
"I'm so glad to be home," said their dad, keeping his luggage. He sat down and caught up with everything that had happened in his absence. No one mentioned their love lives obviously. Arnold was on his way back home too. His convention in New York was over. "I'm glad that Ronald got justice and his name got cleared." Said their dad.
"I thought you hated uncle Ronald?" Asked Alex, confused by his dad's statement.
"No, we didn't hate one another. We were best friends since childhood, " said their dad, and their eyes popped out at the information.
"Oh but you two were the worst enemies ever since I can remember, dad," said Adam.
"It's a long story, children, " sighed their dad.
"We want to hear it, dad," said Angela.
Their dad sighed. "Maybe some other time, " he said trying to avoid the sore topic.
"Please dad, at least tell us why you both became the worst enemies, " persisted Adam.
"We loved the same woman, " said their dad with a sigh. He got up to go.
"Who? Aunt Erika?" Asked Alex.
"No, your mom," confessed their dad, walking upstairs to his room. They all looked at one another. They were more confused than before.
Arnold came home at dinner time. He was in high spirits. His girlfriend had agreed to marry him and he was planning his wedding too. So, they all planned his wedding excitedly. Their dad was a little down and didn't show much enthusiasm. He left all the planning to the children.
Angela went up to her room and walked out to her balcony. She saw Damian at his window and her heart went out to him. He might have been feeling so lonely in that huge house after the traumatic loss he had suffered. She blew him a kiss and called him on his mobile.
"I'm missing you," he grumbled into the phone.
"Me too, Damian, me too," she said to him.
"Who do you love the most in the world Angel?" He asked the question which gave him comfort and made him sleep at night.
"You, Damian, I love you the most," She answered without a doubt. "I will make it up to you. Sleep alone for a few days, we'll be together soon."
Damian sighed,"I know. Promise you will be with me soon?" He asked.
"I Promise," she said. "Now go to sleep."
He disconnected the call and went to lay down on his bed. Would he sleep alone? No, never.
It was twelve o'clock at midnight when Angela heard a tap on her balcony door. She hadn't been able to sleep as thoughts of Damian's unhappy face crept onto her mind. He was all she could think about. It saddened her that she couldn't do what she wanted to do. Be with her Damian.
She opened her balcony door quietly and found Damian standing there with a shit-eating grin on his face!
