Chapter Twenty-Three

Damian saw Xavion standing transfixed to the spot as the new girl walked away from him towards their next class. Damian chuckled at his friend's state.

"Xav, what happened? Are you lovestruck or what?" He asked with a chuckle.

"I don't know, dude. But that wisp of a girl has made me apologise to her twice already. It's a record. I've never apologised in my whole eighteen years of life," said Xavion, widening his eyes with horror.

Damian chuckled,"What did you do?" He asked in bewilderment.

"I just played a prank upon her. She  bumped into me and all her stuff fell all over. She didn't apologise. I got mad. I just guided her towards the wrong building for fun. So, she was late for her first class. You saw what happened after that?" Xavion confessed guiltily.

"Yes, but she couldn't produce her I card too," pointed out Damian.

"Yes that's because it was with me. She had left it lying on the floor. I picked it up and retained it," spoke Xavion more guiltily.

Damian laughed. "You're dead then. So did she forgive you?" He asked.

"No, she asked me to stay away from her," he groaned.

"Good enough. Stay away from her then," Damian suggested.

Xavion covered his face with his hands."I can't, she didn't even get affected by me. She didn't even check me out dude. Have I lost my charm? All girls go crazy after one look at me and she was oblivious to my charms," said Xavion, with a long face.

"This is very serious. So what do you plan to do?" Asked Damian.

"I'm very interested to know her. I want her to forgive me, " said Xavion, looking at Damian seriously.

"Let's go to the next class, architectural studio. We can plan there," suggested Damian and Xavion agreed and they walked to their next class.

Angela sat beside Juliette and turned towards her. She wanted to ease her mind and cheer her up. "I saw how professor Bailey insulted you. He's insulted almost everyone in our class. The students have written a joint letter to the Dean, requesting for a different professor. So, don't feel upset, let's enjoy our term together. Friends?" She asked Juliette with a warm smile.

"Friends," Juliette said and they shook hands with each other happily. Angela was glad that she could make at least one friend in her class. She didn't have to face Damian and Xavion alone everyday.

Soon one by one all the other classmates came pouring into the classroom, taking their seats. Angela saw Juliette glaring towards the door. She turned and saw Damian and Xavion walking in, staring at the two of them. She rolled her eyes.

"Here comes the Devil and his friend, the Satan," whispered Angela. She was pissed off seeing Damian in every class she went to. College life would be a torture if she had to face him everyday, for the next five years!

"You know them?" Asked Juliette incredulously.

"Yeah, one with blue eyes is Damian Anderson, my neighbor and the one with green eyes is Xavion Alexander, his best friend. I've known them all my life. Believe me, they're bad news. Let's not look at them," she whispered and they ducked their heads into the books before them. All Angela wanted was to ignore the very existence of Damian Anderson.

Thankfully they waltzed to the back of the class and sat down, chewing something non stop. The professor walked in, she was a very jovial personality with a good sense of humor and wonderful teaching skills. After a brief introductory session, professor Elaine Robert started her studio format class. She effortlessly taught about forms and methods of design for architects and interior designers, with an emphasis on in-habitation, including body, light, and movement.

When the class ended, Angela and Juliette rushed out for the next lecture.

However, Angela collided with Damian on her way out while Juliette stayed behind her wanting to avoid both of them.

"Well, well, did you follow me here Angel?" asked Damian as he looked Angela up and down.

Angela glared at him,"I could ask the same to you. Now fuck off Damian." She said, pushing him to escape. But how could she forget that he was made of steel? He didn't budge an inch like always!

"What's the hurry baby? Won't you introduce us to your new friend?" Said Damian and Angela made a face at him. Damian chuckled at her cuteness. Xavion stared at Juliette, not able to remove his eyes from her.

"I'm not interested," said Juliette as she caught Angela's wrist and pulled her towards the next class.

"But I am," said Xavion with a smirk and he blocked Juliette's escape.

Damian caught Angela's hand,"You're not going anywhere baby. Introduce us first, " he drawled in his husky, lazy tone.

Angela rolled her eyes at the endearment. "Alright, this is Juliette Meyers, and Juliette, that is Xavion Alexander and this is Damian Anderson," she said in a bored tone. Damian released her and she said," Let's go, Jules."

"What's the hurry?" Said Xavion as he suddenly picked up Juliette's hand and kissed her palm. "I'm glad to meet you Julie. " he said, staring into her eyes. "Am I forgiven?" He asked. Angela looked at them, puzzled as to why Xavion was asking for Juliette's forgiveness. She would have to ask Juliette later.

"Never, " said Juliette and snatching her hand away, she walked out to their next class.

Xavion stood like a statue. He couldn't figure out why Juliette wasn't drooling over him. Had he lost his charms? He had to find out.

"Dude, what's wrong? Isn't she the one you told me about? The one who made you apologize twice?" Asked Damian.

"Yeah, she's the one, " sighed Xavion. "She hates me already, man," he said.

"Oh, she'll come around. They always do," said Damian and they grinned at one another.

"I'm glad I chose architecture. At least I can pursue her like her shadow, " grinned Damian.

"Me too. I'm also planning to pursue someone like her shadow, " confessed Xavion with a wink.

They went to the next class and sat at the back, staring at the two interesting girls sitting at the front bench. It seemed university life would be more interesting than anything else with those two girls around.

The professor hadn't arrived yet and Angela whispered,"What has Xavion done?"

Juliette told her about her morning's ordeal all because Xavion had misdirected her to Welham Hall instead of Goldberg hall where their class actually was being held. He had retained her I-card too and she was insulted by professor Bailey. Angela listened intently to her story. She could feel Damian's hot gaze upon her all the time. She knew they were all ears to what they were discussing.

"That's a very mean joke," she admitted and Juliette nodded.

"Ask me about it. I've never been so insulted in all my life," said Juliette and Angela felt bad for her.

"Did Xavion apologize?" She asked knowing well that Xavion never apologised in all his life.

"Yes, twice," grinned Juliette.

"Really? He's never apologised ever in his entire life," she informed Juliette.

"Oh. Then should I forgive him?" Asked Juliette, confused by the information that Angela gave her.

"No, not so easily. Let him repent more," said Angela and they grinned with evil glints in their eyes.

"What are they plotting against us, bro?" Asked Xavion, puzzled by their whispering and grinning.

"Don't look bro.  You'll go crazy. We will deal with whatever they throw our way. We will win them, by hook or by crook," swore Damian and Xavion agreed. They shared a look among themselves.

The professor came in. He was a no-nonsense strict disciplinarian with a bald head and thick glasses. He introduced himself as Henry Rutherford who would teach them architectural Analysis. They concentrated on his lecture as he was more into asking questions than teaching. No one wanted to get into his bad books.

The class got over and the torture ended. The students stretched their arms and legs with relief. Everyone groaned, not liking the lecture even 1%.

It was their lunch break, so Juliette and Angela went to the cafeteria to get something to eat. They occupied a corner table and Angela got up to get something to eat. Freddie sat at a nearby table and waved at her.

"You know him too?" Asked Juliette.

"Yes, he's a school friend," answered Angela. "Forget him. So what should I get you?" She asked Juliette.

"Anything. Whatever you get for yourself, get one for me," said Juliette,  taking out her wallet to pay.

"It's on me. My treat. To our friendship," said Angela and Juliette grinned.

"Sure. Next time I'll treat, " she said. Angela went to get their food and Juliette looked around the place. She had already fitted in although she was  new to Austin. She had come from a small town of Travis Springs  nearby where her family lived.

Angela stood in the queue to get their orders. Freddie came up behind her. "Hey, we meet again. So how were your classes so far?" He asked.

"Great and yours?" She asked.

"Not so great," said with a pout.

"Why?" Asked Angela curiously.

"You weren't there with me. I just waited to see you here," he admitted and Angela looked down at her hands.

She didn't know that some one was watching them and fuming at them, ready to commit a murder.
