A Hopeless Pursuit (Forbidden Love Series Book 10)

The next day Lisa continued with her school as usual. Sofia and Victoria were to return back to Vegas two days later, so she just dragged herself on. Her parents had resorted to physical violence and she was confused whether to take Laurence's help or not. She didn't wish to bother him knowing that he was too depressed as the days passed by. She hardly met him recently. Ever since he got married to Serenity, he stayed away from home and came home very late in the night and left early too. During the weekend, he went on a tour to California and Lisa again didn't get a chance to meet him.

School was over for the day and she walked towards the main gate when suddenly she remembered what she had told Liam last evening. She rushed towards the back gate and gasped to see Liam on his motorcycle waiting for her with a grin on his face. Lisa was delighted see him. She ran up to him and went into his outstretched arms, clinging to him, embedding her face in his neck. She inhaled his fresh and exhilarating scent as he  held her close.

"Missed me? " he asked softly and she nodded slightly. Liam felt happy to see her reaction to him. The way she expressed everything without speaking a word surprised him. Her looks were so deceiving.  She was soft and vulnerable inside despite the stubborn and tough look that she portrayed in front of everyone. Everyone else started giving them odd looks but Lisa didn't care. She felt so safe as if in heaven when Liam was around. His mere presence calmed her and made her feel alive.

"Will you come to see me everyday?" She asked with hope, releasing him shyly.

"Yes if I get this sort of a welcome everyday," he said, lowering his head to look into her beautiful eyes that shone with emotions.

Lisa smiled at his answer. "What is that mark across your face?" Asked Liam suddenly noticing a red mark across her cheek.

Lisa looked uncomfortable as she tried to think of an appropriate explanation. "I slept upon my books and stationery while studying last night, " she said nervously.

Liam nodded. "I have something for you," he said eagerly, taking out two beautiful red rose buds from his pocket. They seemed like handmade plastic roses made with Hershey's kisses attached inside them. He handed them out to her. Lisa was dumbfounded by the sweet gift. She accepted them and looked up at him excitedly.

"I love Hershey's kisses as well as roses. Where did you get them from?" Asked Lisa inspecting the gift well.

"I made them for you, " he said quietly and Lisa looked up at him with surprise.

"Wow," she said amazed. Liam's cheeks coloured a little at her reaction. He had never expected her to be so happy seeing his amateur craft. Girls her age loved expensive gifts which they could show off in front of their friends and he never expected Lisa to be anything different than them. But he was glad to discover that she was different,  she was unique in fact. She took out one and popped it into her mouth, and moaned with delight as Liam stared at her luscious lips longingly. After she finished it off, she opened her eyes and looked at Liam, a little embarrassed.

"I love chocolates," she said with a shy smile as she opened the other one and held it out to him, right in front of his mouth. "Here, you have the other." Liam opened his mouth and ate the chocolate that she offered, chewing it slowly.

"I want a kiss for a kiss," he said softly. Lisa blushed and looked all around her. Her school mates, batch mates were everywhere. She couldn't kiss him here!

"I can't kiss you here, " she whispered.

"Okay then, let's go a little further off. I need my kiss like you need oxygen to breathe," he said, staring into her eyes. Lisa loved the way he talked to her. It made her feel so special, so cherished.

"I can't. My dad's chauffeur is waiting for me outside the main gate. If I don't go out, he'd come inside the school to hunt me down and take me home," she told Liam. She wished she were eighteen and could confide in him and get married and escape from her parents but she had two more years to go.

"I don't know. You have to find a way to give me my kiss," he insisted stubbornly. Lisa leaned forward and kissed his cheek quickly as a few school children nearby gasped at her behavior.

"I have to go now Liam.  Shall I see you again tomorrow?" She asked hesitantly.

"Yes, if you again promise to kiss me, " he said quietly. Lisa nodded and turned to rush back inside.

"Bye Liam, " she said with a wave.

"Bye," sighed Liam as he started his motorcycle and rode home to get ready for work. He was looking forward to tomorrow again for another ten-minute meet.

Lisa went home straight to her room. She found Sandra arranging and cleaning her room. "What's all this Sandra?" She asked with shock to see all her stuff lying about.

"I'm sorry Lisa, Penny ma'am has ordered me to get this room cleaned, vacuumed, sorted and freshened before Saturday, " said Sandra apologetically. Lisa angrily stomped her feet and dumped her stuff into suitcases.

"Where are you going Lisa? You're not allowed to go to Sofia's house, remember?" Reminded Sandra with concern. She didn't want to obey Penny Lennard but she had no choice.

"I can't go to Sofia's house even if I wanted to. She's in Michigan. I'm shifting into the next bedroom. Mom can have this for herself. If she forces me, I shall go and live upstairs with Laurence," threatened Lisa, stomping away with her stuff. Sandra sighed and continued with her work. Lisa shifted her whole stuff to the room next to hers and locked the door. She hated her life inside this torture chamber. She couldn't believe that her mom was actually getting her room prepared so that she could really seduce Liam the coming Saturday. How could someone do this to their own daughter? Maybe Penny Lennard wasn't her real mom, after all. Every passing day, this feeling had started growing stronger and stronger inside her.

In the evening, there was a knock on her door. Lisa was scared, she didn't want to face her mom now, but when the knocks grew louder, she had to open her door.

Her mom stood outside angrily glaring at her. "What's this Lisa? Why have you shifted here?" She asked massaging her temples.

"You should have asked me before getting my room cleaned. If you think that I'll seduce Liam in that room, then you're in for a surprise. I'll never do as you say. If you force me, I'll go and live with Laurence or run away from home forever, " she screamed,  pushing her mom out and closing her door, locking it well. Her mom angrily banged on her door for sometime before she left.

"No dinner for you. That's you're punishment for what you just did," she gritted out before leaving. Lisa sobbed into her pillow helplessly. She hadn't had lunch too for fear of meeting her mom and she was ravenous. She just packed a few necessities and crept out of her room. Thankfully, there was no one in the corridor. She rushed up the stairs to Laurence's floor, anxiously pressing the door bell.

Serenity opened the door and welcomed her inside. "Lisa are you going somewhere?" She asked eyeing her small backpack.

"No, I actually wanted to stay here with you and bro for some days," she said awkwardly.

"Oh, you're most welcome to stay here. Come on, check out the room where you want to sleep, " said Serenity,  leading her towards two adjacent rooms.

"Serenity, did you have dinner yet?" She asked as her stomach gave up and was killing her with hunger pangs.

"No, Sandra's serving dinner. Why don't you join me? Laurence is on his way home," she informed. Lisa nodded and dumped her backpack into the room nearest to her. Then she followed Serenity to the dining room. Sandra smiled apologetically at her.

"I'm sorry about what happened Lisa. I was helpless, " she said when Serenity went to the washroom.

"I know, Sandra.  I have nothing against you, " she said to her.

"Why don't you stay here with Laurence? You'll be safe here," said Sandra, serving the food. Serenity came into the room and they stopped discussing altogether.

Serenity discussed about her pregnancy and about the last ultrasound that she went to as they enjoyed dinner. Laurence came inside and kissed the top of Lisa's head. "She's staying with us for a few days," said Serenity.

Laurence nodded appreciatively. "That's good. I'll freshen up in a minute and join the two of you, okay?" He said leaving the room.

At that moment, Lisa decided to talk to Laurence and live with him till she turned eighteen.
