Epilogue
Grandma and aunt Olivia were stocking the refrigerator with the leftovers when Blade arrived with Brooklyn in his arms.
"What happened Blade? Who's this? Oh God, take her to Briar's room," his aunt Olivia said as they rushed up after him.
Aunt Olivia called the doctor immediately. Blade lay her down on the bed. "I saw her today sitting on the church stairs, auntie. She was scared and hiding. She told me her name was Brooklyn Foster. After the wedding, I again saw her at the same spot. Then I came home for the reception party. Now when I went back to check, she was lying unconscious. So, I brought her home," he explained.
The doctor came and checked her while Blade went to his room which was next to Briar's, to change out of his tuxedo. Wearing his track pants and a tee shirt, he returned to her room. The doctor had left and his aunt had changed her clothes.
"What did doctor Wilson say?" He asked with concern. After freshening up, the girl looked all the more beautiful and very very innocent. Her eyelashes were naturally curled, touching her creamy cheeks, her pouty red lips waiting to be kissed. How could someone look so ravishing yet so innocent in her sleep? What was he even thinking?
Aunt Olivia cleared her throat, she had been talking to him for the past two minutes yet he was so engrossed in staring at the girl that he didn't hear a word that she said.
"What auntie? You said anything?" He asked, puzzled.
"Yes, I was saying that the doctor said that she was malnourished and had a nervous breakdown," she informed him as his eyes widened with shock.
"Don't worry, let her rest here for a few days. When she recovers, we can talk to her. Let's see what's bothering her, then we can help her," she said leaving the room. Grandma had left and gone to her room to change.
Blade kneeled beside her bed," I shouldn't have left you, Brooklyn. It's my fault that you've gotten worse," he said, removing a lock of hair from her cheek. They were so soft and smooth, he wondered what the rest of her would feel like.
He instantly removed his hands, did he feel all tingly when he touched her? That was impossible, wasn't it? Maybe after so many love stories and marriages in the family, he was feeling horny.
Sighing, he went to his room, but couldn't sleep. What if the girl woke up in the middle of the night? She would be scared at an unknown house. So, he got up and went to the next room.
Climbing onto the bed, he lay down beside her, her sweet lavender and rose smell wafting into his nose. He closed his eyes, he knew this was torture but he was loving it, nevertheless. He stared at her sleeping form. The top was a little small for her. It hugged her figure, her creamy breasts peeking from the plunging neckline. The small pj shorts exposed her long creamy legs. The top hitched up showing her waist and belly button. She was the hottest thing on earth, he concluded. He fell asleep dreaming about her in his arms. Tomorrow was a new day and it would be his mission to see that this girl dealt with her problems successfully and was happy with her life.
After the wedding Briar carried his bride to the cottage. The moment they went inside, he locked the door. He carried her to the bedroom. It was decorated with red roses and beautiful peonies. Laying her on the bed, he lay down beside her.
"Welcome to a new journey together, wifey. In everything that I do, know that I only love you. I will give my life to protect you. Your happiness will always be my top priority. Let us start this journey together through ups and downs. Whatever happens, I'll always be beside you. Let's seal this promise to each other," he said kissing her mouth lovingly, lingeringly.
She was too choked with emotions to say anything. They made love to each other, showing through actions what they both mean to one another. Thus their journey of life started, and they both realised one thing, when your heart seeks the one it loves, dreams really do come true.
